Iron Maiden - New Wave of British Heavy Metal

Iron Maiden - heavy metal (representing the New Wave of British Heavy Metal) band from London, was founded December 25, 1975, regarded as one of the greatest heavy metal bands. The leader of the group is bassist Steve Harris. The band's name literally means iron maiden, a medieval instrument of torture.
Group plays heavy metal with progressive elements. Their music is based on the sharp guitar riffs, but melodic, and rapid and dynamic rhythm section of drummer Nicko McBrain rich and distinctive-sounding ("clicking") bass guitar Steve Harris. A characteristic feature of most of the work (1981-1994 and 1999 -) group is a wide range of Bruce Dickinson vocals. This musician is considered one of the best rock vocalists. Musical style of Iron Maiden are also virtuoso solos of three guitarists.

Current members
  • Bruce Dickinson
  • Janick Gers
  • Steve Harris
  • Nicko McBrain
  • Dave Murray
  • Adrian Smith

Generally tracks of the band is a collection of quite diversity. Iron Maiden has created both very quick, strong, sometimes approaching the thrash metal compositions like "Be Quick or Be Dead", a progressive, long songs, often multi-part with the change of pace, such as "Paschendale", "Dance of Death," "Rime of The Ancient Mariner, "" Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, "" Hallowed Be Thy Name "and quiet ballads like" Afraid To Shoot Strangers ", or acousto-orchestral" Journeyman ". Iron Maiden has created also the melodic songs like "Can I Play with Madness" and "Wasted Years", which due to their affordability and lightness achieved huge commercial success.

In the album of 2006, A Matter of Life and Death group presented a different style of music. Songs have become longer and longer, more ambitious and progressive, yet not so strong and stringent as those of the early career.
The compositions are formed mainly by the leader - Steve Harris and Adrian Smith, Janick Gers, Dave Murray and Bruce Dickinson. Additionally, Blaze Bayley took part in the creation of vocal melodies. Two drummers - Nicko McBrain and Clive Burr have a minimal contribution to the creation of music.

Songs texts are about historical events (such as "Aces High", "Paschendale", "Montsegur," "The Trooper", "Alexander The Great"), mythology ("Flight of Icarus", "Powerslave"), or use of motifs from the literature ("Brave New World", "It Tame a Land", "Phantom of the Opera") and films ("Where Eagles Dare," "Children of the Damned," "Edge of Darkness"). In addition to the above examples of creativity Iron Maiden theme is quite diverse. The authors of the texts are usually Steve Harris, Adrian Smith and Bruce Dickinson. Also Blaze Bayley and occasionally Paul Di'Anno and other members gave in this regard very rarely or not at all.
The team has its own mascot - Eddie. Eddie has appeared on most of the albums and singles covers of Iron Maiden, often as part of the concert stage design. The team in his career has sold over 100 million albums, of which 75 million from EMI Rec logo
